Our hospital is evaluated regularly by AAHA to ensure that we meet or exceed the association's standards of excellence. AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine. Only 17% of US animal hospitals are accredited by AAHA.

  • Derek Vanduzer, DVM

    Dr. Derek VanDuzer was born and raised in upstate New York. After graduating from Clemson University in South Carolina, he worked for a year with a mixed animal veterinarian. He then attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine where he met his wife, Dr. Kim Williams-VanDuzer. He succeeded in graduating at the top of his class. After graduation, Dr. VanDuzer worked for a mixed animal practice in Lancaster, PA for 2 years. In 1998, he started working at an exclusive small animal practice in Pasadena, MD. In 2004, he and his wife purchased Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital. Surgery is his favorite part of practice. The doctors live in the area with their kids: Caroline, Danny and Ryan. He enjoys working on cars, water sports, and spending time with his family.
  • Kim A. Williams-VanDuzer, DVM

    Dr. Kim Williams-VanDuzer was also born in upstate New York. Dr. Williams worked for a veterinary clinic since high school. She attended Boston University for her undergraduate degree. After college, she worked for a year in clinical neurology research at Boston University School of Medicine. She then attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Williams graduated with a DVM with Thesis degree. She published a paper in the area of equine reproduction. Following graduation, Dr. Williams worked at a small animal emergency clinic (AAVEC) for two years and then started a residency in Internal Medicine. She completed her residency and is currently pursing certification (called a Diplomate) in the specialty of Internal Medicine. She enjoys critical care cases, endocrine and GI cases as well as ultrasound and endoscopy.She has published a paper on Vetsulin and has others pending publication. Her favorite activities include spending time with her husband, 3 kids, 3 dogs, and cat. She also enjoys scrap-booking, horseback riding, and reading.
  • Dr. Rachael Gore

    Dr. Gore is originally a native of central Pennsylvania. recently moved to Baltimore Country, Maryland after marrying her husband, Steve, in 2014. She completed her undergraduate at the University of Findlay in northwest Ohio and then moved to Columbus. Ohio to complete a Master's of Public Heath degree in Veterinary Public Health from the Ohio State University. Dr. Gore is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. She has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, preventative care and food animal medicine (ruminants and swine). She and her husband live on a small Angus cow-calf operation with their two dogs Case & Dakota. She enjoys painting, hiking, dog training and reading books for fun.

  • Jennifer Irwin, R.V.T.

    Jenn has been employed at Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital since 1994.  In 2006, she became a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Maryland.  Jenn, her husband Lee, and twin boys, Nathan and Garrett, care for numerous dogs, cats, and other critters.  Jenn actively breeds and competes with her French Bulldogs and Staffy Bulls in dog shows.  She enjoys reading, knitting, and the outdoors.
  • Becky Snyder


    Becky has been at PBVH since spring 2012. Becky is currently pursuing her RVT. She has a cat named George, two pitbulls named Dill & Curtis and a Staffie named Audrey.

  • Emilie O'Donnoghue


    Emilie has been with Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital since early 2012. She received her veterinart assistant certificate in 2012 and her Associates Degree from Carroll Community College in 2013. She is currently is enrolled at CCBC to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Emilie has three dogs, Tucker, Barley and Guinness.

  • Mandy Richardson, R.V.T.


    Mandy graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in English Literature from Towson University. She graduated CCBC (Essex) in 2008 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Mandy lives with her husband, an E.R. nurse, their four-year-old son, 3 dogs and 2 cats.

    Kennel Assistant/Vet Assistant

    She is currently attending CCBC with an interest in becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician.

  • Becky Cook


    Becky started with Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital in August 2015. Becky was a Labor and Delivery nurse for 28 years before trading human patients for animal ones. She has a 14 year old toy poodle, Tess and several grand-dogs.

    Vet Assistant

    Dianna has been with Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital since September 2016. She loves working with animals. She has a huge heart and is always motivated. She has 2 dogs, Skittles and Killian.

  • Amanda Bitters

    Kennel Assistant

    Amanda joined the staff of Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital in September of 2016. Amanda is our kennel assistant and is an aspiring veterinarian. She is currently a junior at Hereford High School and is involved in both the soccer program and the FFA.

  • Jennifer Wilmot


    Jennifer joined our staff in October 2016. She comes to us with 8.5 years experience in the veterinary field in Client Service Relations and as a Technician's Assistant. Jenn was from West Virginia originally and has finally settled with her husband, Robert, at a small farmette in Southern PA. She is active in the horse showing community and is currently President of the Carroll County Western Circuit, where she shows her 6 year old quarter horse, as well as showing him at AQHA shows on the East Coast. She and her husband are proud owners of a black lab and six cats. They also enjoy exploring the west on vacation and taking airplane day trips, taking advantage of her husband's private pilot's license.

  • Shannon McDonough

    Shannon has been with Prettyboy Veterinary Hospital since April of 2017. She is orinally from Tennessee. Shannon is new to the veterinary field, with a background in restaurant management and management of a trucking company. Shannon raises her own pigs, chickens and she also will soon raise cattle. She also has three dogs and two cats. Her dogs love to travel and hike with Shannon and her family.
